Mary Marg Helgenberger (born November 16 1958) is an American actor. She started her acting career in the early 1980s and first came to attention for playing the role of Siobhan Ryan in the daytime soap series Ryan's Hope from 1982 to 1986. Most famously, she is known for her character of Catherine Willows in the CBS police procedural drama. She is the oldest of four siblings. McCain was a graduate of the Phoenix Country Day School as well as Xavier College Preparatory, a private Catholic all-girls highschool. She graduated in 2007 with a master's degree in art history at Columbia University. She joined The View in 2017 and hosted the show from 2017 until 2021. McCain was awarded 4 Daytime Emmy nominations. McCain is also a Daily Mail journalist after her three years as a reporter on The View.
